The nineteenth-century building has a rich history, serving as a barracks, then a military bakery, and a trading place for the silk trade. Working in collaboration with Asti Architetti, the project reimagined a building typical of many in central Milan – a four-storey urban block with an internal courtyard and a covered arcade at street level – as a new workplace with a variety of additional uses.
We created a new lobby space and entrance sequence leading to a large atrium in the former courtyard, which is now topped with a new glazed structure. This entirely changes the roofscape of the building, appearing light and delicate on the skyline and introducing natural light into the floors and atrium below.
Our work at Moscova 33 is the result of collaboration between our client Savills Investment Management SGR S.p.A, Development Advisors Eurotekna, architects Asti Architetti and contractor Carron Cav. Angelo S.p.A.
